The 2018 Telstra Business Awards winners have been announced with Pachamama Winning the National 2018 Telstra Australian Small & Succeeding Award.
The Award Winners have been selected by the expert judging panel as the highest achieving businesses in their respective categories.
Pachamama is the first ever education provider in history to win a National Telstra Business Award, and only the second Western Australian Business ever to win in the small business category in 26 years!
When announcing this historical award, Tracey Spicer AM said, “The judges said Pachamama was setting the standard for world-class childcare and, with 58,000 social media followers, has built a business that truly resonates with their audience. The vision of the future of the business has strong social purpose and the team is of exceptional quality and the operations are excellent. In their State Award acceptance speech, the Founding Director said the results of Pachamama’s children have been ‘brilliant’ and they would like to inspire others in the educational space to consider how they can improve their environments and awaken a passion for young children to connect with nature.”
“Pachamama’s hope is that our business serves as a lighthouse shining a beacon across early education and childcare, providing a light with which others can choose to navigate.” Mrs Kristen McPhail, co-founder and director
Inspired by the ancient Incan ‘Mother Earth’, Pachamama aims to become a home-away-from-home for children; a creative natural environment in which they can learn life skills and form trusting relationships. With two rapidly growing childcare centres in the Perth Hills, Pachamama uses art and nature to encourage younger generations to ‘think outside the square’.
Established in 1992, the Telstra Business Awards have been a hub for Australia’s remarkable small and medium-sized businesses to gather, explore their dreams, celebrate their achievements and to become ‘that’ business. The awards have showcased some of Australia’s best business talent, with over 45,000 businesses nominated to date. According to Telstra, “These businesses have inspired us all with their resilience, courage, incredible commitment, and their ability to find new solutions and ways of working.”
